bariatric surgery?

Has anyone had the lap band bariatric surgery? What in the main consequences?

I had the procedure Lap-Band on July 26, 2006. The procedure took about 35 minuets. Since the surgery I have lost about 25 pounds. Before surgery, you have to go to a heart doctor and get a check and an EKG done. Then you have to go and get a gastrologist and endoscopy procedure done to make sure that they have no stomach problems. Then you are going to see a psychiatrist to make sure you really want the procedure. After all you have to go to 2 meetings of support groups and talk to patients who have had gastric banding. The meetings are great because you can get different peoples' perspectives on the procedure. Everyone has different stories about what happened. After you go to the doctor and discuss the date of surgery and any questions you may have. Also before you get surgry to lose about 10 to 15 pounds so the surgeon can move the liver to install the gastric band. The weight of the liver loses more flexible. If not lost, the surgeon performing the procedure. After surgery in most of time you can go home unless your insurance company that makes you spend the night. Like mine. In general, the surgery was a snap. I had no complications at all. I started this quest on 14 June and had surgery 43 days later. If you want it bad enough that will work hard to achieve. Most people take anywhere from 6 months to a year to get the procedure. Be prepared to change your whole lifestyle of eating. Good luck if you decide to take the plunge. Go to www.lapbandtalk.com.
