Gastric band surgery and the wife of shame?
I am a man 5'8''y 235 pounds. I stopped smoking and have tried dieting, but still fail. I have health problems that someone my age (35) should not have: sleep apnea severe neck and back hernias with spinal stenosis. Now I have a stress fracture in his left foot that could require surgery. I have trouble because the weight makes all these problems worse. I can lose 15 pounds and two days later is back. I dieted all summer and made walking and bicycling for all summer. Net loss = 0. My wife said I would lose all respect for me if I gastric band surgery. I feel part of it is because she has won weight, but does not qualify because she has no health problems. What should I do?
Ask your wife if she'll respect you more if you are bed bound and fat, or maybe fat and dead? You've put your finger on the problem, she is jealous. You need to do this for you, nobody else. Perhaps afraid you will find a new wife or other women attractive. Your health is at risk and should be encouraged to get healthy. I think a band back would be a great first step in the right direction. Encourage her to accompany him. Anyway, take care of yourself and your health so you can be there to take care of your family.
