Gastric Bypass Journey

He has been struggling with her weight for years?

Are you looking to surgery to lose weight?

Wondering if you still have hungry?

Bands I was in May 2004 and for the first year we did not need a "filler" or liquid added to my band.

I was asked by a person that I am helping along his journey, "Is the hunger ever go away?"

The best way to answer that question was for me to review some of the feelings I had, and methods used during this first year as I tried to understand what it means to live with a band was. I applied the gang rules as directed by my doctor and began to learn to pay attention.

Living with a gastric band was the first year experience unbelievable to me. I saw my surgeon every 4 weeks to check my weight, my blood pressure and my eating habits. I have a diary religiously writing down every morsel that entered my mouth, every drop of liquid, the content of the diet of all of it, and month after month jumped on the scale and was pleasantly rewarded with the loss constant weight. I knew I had a band. My hunger between meals was more or less gone, and I was satisfied with smaller portions at meals. Notice, I never I said it was full. This is probably the most important distinction to understand and more difficult to really "get."

While I already I was not hungry when I finished the part I put on my plate – I was done. This was great because I was not hungry between meals, either. Or, if I thought it was me, me had water or tea and suddenly I felt what I had interpreted as hunger pangs anymore. I guess just thirsty. Month after month, only the band as it was "Installed", continued weight loss, not full, not hungry. I can do this! It was great!

Then one day I felt hungry between meals. No, I mean really hungry. Water, iced tea, hot tea, nothing was done by her. This was scary. Fortunately I had an appointment that comes in about a week, so I knew I was white-knuckled my way through and make sure I had not been doing anything differently. Checking the daily journal, eat and drink the same as the previous month, I guess maybe eventually need a filling.

I found a filler (a small amount of liquid added to my band), when I saw my doctor, and hunger between meals gone!

In short, it is very important to pay close attention to what you are eating and drinking, as well as to the signals your body is giving you. Write down everything you eat and drink, put small portions on the plate, noting how you feel when you've finished what's on your plate, and observing how long before you are hungry (hungry, not thirsty) help you and your doctor identify whether or not you need a filling.

The great side effect is that you begin to understand the difference between "hunger", "satiety" and "full" so you can use your Lap-Band or Realize Band the best way in this journey to better health.
